An Afternoon of Winter Blooms

Join us for an afternoon of festive floral delights in the stunning Orangery at Newby Hall.

We begin with a glass of warming mulled wine, a mince pie and a sparkling welcome from renowned TV presenter Christine Talbot, before enjoying a series of captivating live demonstrations by acclaimed international floral designer Jonathan Moseley.

Famous for his spectacular floral designs, Jonathan will show you how to create beautiful garlands, wreaths, and displays to bring the wow factor to your Christmas décor and will offer expert insights and insider top tips gleaned over his 30-year career to shake up your yuletide floral decorating habits and preconceptions.

Along with demonstrating creative techniques to extend the longevity of festive displays using plants, bulbs and winter foliage, Jonathan will show how to use foraged berries, seed-heads, cones and fruits in a display.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned flower enthusiast, his expert insights and creative techniques are sure to inspire.

Afterwards, indulge in a sumptuous seasonal afternoon tea, savouring a delicious selection of treats while soaking up the festive atmosphere with fellow guests.

To complete the afternoon, sit back and enjoy an informal ‘how to’ on planting bulbs for seasonal indoor colour with our resident gardening expert, Sarah Hopps. You’ll even receive a take-home kit with everything you need to create your very own mini display.

Proceeds from this event will support the North of England Horticultural Society, a charity established in 1911 to promote and nurture horticulture across the region.
